It has become apparent to everyone who uses AOL Chat, that the company does not care about their users. Hence, another giant contributor to AOL’s loss of traffic.

For the past two years AOL has been receiving tens of thousands of complaints about BOTS (automated computer generated screen names) taking over the chat room, thereby driving the AOL members to other chat and social sites. It does not take a rocket scientist to see that either AOL currently does not care about their users, or perhaps it is simply the responsibility of an employee or two who clearly not doing his job, and is able to hide it from AOL Management. In either case, the advertisers who expect to be before the eyes of the chat users (people who stay online for hours in front of their ads), are not getting what their stockholders expect, a bang for their advertising dollar.

Over the years, AOL has invested millions upon millions of dollars in chat, in order to give their users a way to stay online and enjoy the AOL experience. They have already created all the tools necessary to control the endless number of BOTS that have taken over the system, yet no one is steering the boat. With no one taking responsibility, the users continue to leave AOL and the advertisers, such as Wells Fargo, AT&T, and others, are having their ads displayed before computer generated pseudo-people. What a waste of a system that even the smallest team of webmasters would do anything to acquire. AOL is a powerhouse left alone to die.

Maybe David Eun, the President of AOL, or perhaps the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Arthur Minson, will take notice to this problem.

There are only a handful of people around the world who know how to throw an ‘excellent’ adult Expo, and Mike from FetishCon (mike@fetishcon.com) proved to me and my colleagues, he is certainly one of them.

The 2011 Fetishcon expo in Tampa just ended. Exhibiting AdultChamber, RateXpics, AdultList and AdultToyStore, I was in attendance at a booth. I was also there with the famous porn star, Diamond Jackson. Additionally, I conducted a very successful seminar to help people avoid the pitfalls when starting an online web based business. Mike asked AdultChamber to host this seminar, without a sales pitch, so people can both learn, and play, at Fetishcon. I was surprised when I walked into the seminar room to find a full house. It became quite evident to those in the seminar that they did not want me to stop speaking, even though my time had expired, and the people from the next seminar were walking in and setting up.

I have been to hundreds of adult expos. Never in my life would I have expected to arrive in Tampa, for a fetish event, to find it held at one of Tampa’s most first class, upscale, downtown hotel. Everything about the show was first class. Everyone in attendance was made to feel, special, regardless of how they expressed their fetish desires.

FetishCon is an adult oriented expo for those who have an adult fetish, and want to feel comfortable dressing and showing off their bodies, costumes, and unique skills. Daytime has the convention all packed. Nighttime is for partying and socializing.

Anyone who says that the Fetishcon expo is anything other than “over-the-top, and worth both the cost and travel time” would be lying to you. This is an expo that so many adult companies missed out on…

This show is a hidden secret in the adult business community. The exhibit center was SOLD OUT. You read right, SOLD OUT! Every booth space was taken. And best of all, the crowd seemed to be never-ending, with a few THOUSAND attendees with open minds, and a desire to shop ‘till they dropped.

I have one recommendation for adult companies with products or services that can use a boost in sales from every corner of the fetish world; seriously consider coming to FetishCon, reserve your booth space early, and become known in the community. It appears that Mike will not expand the successful convention hall unless he gets enough early commitments. Doing the show is work, and fun, at the same time. The crowd is absolutely the friendliest group you will find, anywhere. This is a fun fetish show where everyone seems to fit in.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the outstanding work that Mike’s staff did to put this show together. My hat is off to vesta@fetishcon.com; genesis@fetishcon.com; and the rest of the staff.

If invited, AdultChamber will be there next year with a 20′ booth and two seminars!

Instead of embracing the new .XXX extension, rumor has it that the big boys in the adult side of the internet are not happy with the need to acquire their domains again. It would also appear that those who have been holding onto potentially valuable domain names, and not using them to their potential, would not be pleased with the .xxx entry into the url arena. But the flip side of this coin gives the new website owner the ability to secure some very good domain names.

To learn more about .xxx, check out About.XXX. You will find some great information and some video footage that will bring you up to speed.

The one thing the staff at RateXpics and AdultList recommends is not to be too late in securing your future domains. Remember, the early bird gets the worm.

A few years ago I decided to create an adult free list website, thinking “What the heck, it will be easy”. The purpose was to give webmasters the ability to get “free adult traffic”, while at some time in the future to pay for the effort by selling ad space, once the traffic built up. Thinking the hours invested would eventually pay off, little did I know of the reality.

Having owned the domain AdultList.com, I thought I would put it to use. There were very few choices at the time when it came to pre-written list scripts, so I rolled up my sleeves and reviewed the few that were available. I had someone in the office create categories for Adult websites and before long, a basic list site was online. And then it happened…

Immediately webmasters were listing their websites, and hours were spent every day reviewing them. So far, no money, but hours and hours were spent looking over adult sites to make sure they were of the quality I wanted, and that they had a link-back (reciprocal link) to AdultList. Then I got busy and months went by. When I came back to the free site to continue with the reviews, there were over a thousand submissions to the list, all awaiting approval. Then came the lesson…

Spammers… Webmasters who could care less if they abused the free listings; Webmasters who create five sites a day to promote the same affiliate programs, disguising what they are doing with an endless number of individual adult sites. Hours on end were spent approving sites, only to learn that some started to look familiar. Having already invested hundreds of hours, a solution was to create a list of domains that were used to spam AdultList.

Today, AdultList remains a very good site. Although alone it will never make money, it is tied together, as a sister site, to RateXpics.com. When a webmaster wants more traffic, any ad placed on RateXpics.com or AdultList.com appears on the sister website. Essentially, this gives more exposure for the webmaster who needs quality adult traffic.

All I can say to someone who wants to start a free list website… BE PREPARED to be abused by the sub-group of webmasters who live to take advantage of anything they can get away with. Think twice before going down the path of a quality free list website.

Got an idea for an adult website? The initial idea for many of today’s successful websites were conceived by their owners, but developed by a website designer. You don’t need to know how to build a website in order to be successful on the net, but you’ll need to know how to select, and work, with your website designer in order to bring your ideas to life. Success means incorporating flexibility in the site’s design in order to make necessary modifications for the inevitable website adjustments that will be required in the ever-changing internet. With a wealth of designers from which to choose, who you select to create your site and how you interact together within deadlines will determine whether you succeed for fail.

Similar to many professional developers, most of the clients who use the AdultChamber.com staff came to them after a bad and costly experience. Two examples of the hundreds of sites they built or fixed, are the porn stars Diamond Jackson and Erin Marxxx. Diamond Jackson’s very successful website came after they spoke with her at length about her website “issues”, sent her a small 5 hour work order, rolled up their sleeves, and show her how much work they could get done in the five hours. After that, Diamond Jackson continued working with the AdultChamber guys. At the time of this post on the free traffic RateXpics blog, Erin Marxxx just contracted with the AdultChamber guys after meeting them at the Las Vegas AEE – AVN Expo. So, to avoid your getting frustrated during the development of your website, all it takes is your understanding of what you’re up against and what responsibilities you have in order to ensure a successful and pleasant website design experience. There is nothing like the pride you’ll enjoy by bringing a high-quality website to the net that reflects your business idea exactly as you dreamed. On a side note, if you want to reach the guys at AdultChamber, officially known by their corporate name, Online Technologies Group, you can contact them at marc@online-tech.com.

Out-of-the-box designers are all over the place… Microsoft’s Front-Page software, and other companies with such products, allow amateurs with basic computer skills to create web pages. And then there “one size fits all” programs like Joomla. The problem with having a robust adult site created under Joomla is simple to understand. When you have a problem, you have to find someone who knows Jooma inside and out. As one would expect, the few who learned within the development boundaries of Joomla swear by that product. Why? First and foremost, most of their development knowledge is based around the single product with its limitations. What you will not learn until it is too late relates to what happens should your business become successful. In that instance, you’ll need to make changes to your website to incorporate thinks outside to boundaries of the out of the box tools that were used to initially design your site. That is where the trouble starts. Since your site was designed without standard HTML, php, mysql, and other industry standard techniques, be prepared to scramble looking for people to help you out. When shopping for a web developer, keep in mind that the adult website, in order to compete with others on the net, requires the highest level of development skills. Many out-of-the-box designers work from home and rarely interact with highly skilled website developers, making it extremely difficult for them to know how different they are from the true experienced professional with years of experience. To the unskilled eye in search of a web designer, it is difficult at best to determine if someone’s resume references websites constructed with only these basic tools. Before selecting an individual or company to design your website and bring your idea to life, you need to ask yourself why you would use someone who relies on basic tools to create something that will most likely require high-end graphic skills and the knowledge needed for possible back-end database interaction in order for you to compete with the best sites on the net. Regardless who you use, you will be investing many hours explaining your idea and working with your developer in order to make sure your website is better than you dreamed possible. It becomes very expensive and frustrating to learn late in a project that your developer did not have the skills necessary to create a site that competes with the best on the net. It is important to note that there are a few developers with good skills who use products such as Front Page and Jooma; however, it is more likely you’ll find the experienced designer using professional development tools such as the ‘current versions’ of Photo Shop, DreamWeaver, ….., etc. And most important, the most skilled people will always take their time with you and NEVER quote you a fixed fee. And, expect the professional developers, like the guys at AdultChamber, to end up being much cheaper when the job is actually completed.

Every successful adult website relies heavily on the developer’s knowledge and experience in order to prevent the waste of time and money. Before you select your developer, interview, interview, and interview. Get a list of what he or she has done, and do your homework. Determine if the sites submitted are interactive, or simply static pretty pages. Then, recall your goal and determine if static pretty pages are all you had in mind. Remember, everyone puts their best foot forward and all of us get caught up with a pretty paint job. The probability of your success lies totally in your hands, and the decision of who to select to work on your website will pave the path to success or failure.

If you are going to use a professional development company, make sure they have been “active” in the adult side of the internet, more than just creating websites. There is a major advantage in selecting a true experienced adult friendly company. You will, without a doubt, be using adult related terminology and vocabulary. The employees of such a firm will be comfortable bringing your idea to life, and will be forthcoming with ideas for you to consider, since their experience relates to the adult market. Such experience crosses over into the best ways to create web pages in order to get the most out of search engine robots that will be visiting your site once it goes online. Having your site laid out and functioning in a way to best manage your traffic is inherent with those of such know-how. Additionally, when working with the experienced developer, you’ll enjoy the sharing of ideas that will work within your project’s scope to increase the probability of success and profit. The experienced developer will know instinctively how your site should best interact with the user and what the user will expect in today’s internet community when paying for site access.

One of the ways to know if the developer has experience in the adult internet community boils down to comfort. People who work at your community’s solid waste collection facility are not offended by the odor. People with experience in the adult internet community do not over-react to adult images, but rather, immediately grasp your idea and provide suggestions related to what is actually happening, in today’s adult marketplace. Choosing the right development partner will become much less expensive that attempting to work with the inexperienced.

You can have the best idea for an adult website, but if it looks like those in the 1990s, or it does not look professional, function interactively, quickly, and provide what today’s adult internet customers seeks, getting the site to turn a profit will become a struggle. Inexperienced adult website developers innocently take on projects and later learn that deadlines pass and client frustration builds, leading to your loss of enthusiasm and the demise of your dream.

You’ve already spent countless hours piecing together the concept for your adult business, and you now plan on bringing your web site online. It always seems easy when the idea of the business first comes to mind, but bringing it to reality is quite a different story. Creating and managing such a business has proven to be quite the mental challenge, but now it’s time to seek out a professional web developer. With this decision, it is important to note that it is not necessary to be a computer genius in order to develop your website, though it is essential that you consider a “hands on” approach to the development and planning of your web site. Your involvement in every phase of the design and development ensures the end result will be satisfactory, and will most certainly save you time and money in the end.

Clearly, the easiest approach to having your web site designed and developed is to offer the “professional” full control over the creative process. Unfortunately for both parties, this decision almost always causes problems, and adds to the cost of the project as a whole. It is very easy to create an environment where such problems arise when you want to get your site developed as quickly as possible, and the developer wants you to contractually commit to the project. You have to understand that no one can read your mind, no matter how much you explain your ideas, and wishing someone could does not make it happen. Regardless of whether your selected web developer can express an understanding of your project, they are truly unknowing of your vision for your business venture. Taking the time to understand these potential pitfalls is extremely important and planning ahead of time is essential for your success.

After your site goes live on the net, there are over 50 million websites that you will be competing with for traffic. It is indeed a challenge to take on such an intimidating task. You will need to devise a strategy to help separate your new online business from the rest of the web. Most adult websites are created without sufficient planning and often fail because they lack focus and long-term dedication. Before hiring a professional web developer to prepare your web site, ask yourself these seven essential questions:

DO I HAVE THE TIME?
Undoubtedly, the most important aspect to building a successful online business is the investment of time. There is no doubt in our minds that the more time you spend on your business, the more likely it will become better. Many newcomers believe their work is done after they have acquired their domain and content, expecting the visitors to come pouring in along with the money. DO NOT buy into this myth. Every successful website has an owner who invested his heart in the project, along with the investment of TIME. Understanding that your new online business will require an intensive schedule is vital.

Ask yourself these questions: With every great business comes great responsibility (Spider-Man?), can you handle more? Are you really willing to spend the necessary hours on top of your regular full time job?

Keep in mind that your project can still go forward and become successful if you are unable to put your life on hold to work on your new business. However, you will need to consider hiring someone to maintain and update your web site in order to keep it fresh and alive. But, nobody will be as passionate about your business as you.

CAN I AFFORD IT?
There is a plethora of financial responsibilities that you must fulfill both during the planning stages and on a day to day basis. The necessary costs that come with starting your new online business include web site development and maintenance, content, web hosting, customer service, promotions, advertising, etc. Make a budget, evaluate future expenditures by talking to others on popular webmaster forums, and determine if you can afford to bring your business endeavor to life before you step forward.

DO I UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF MY AUDIENCE?
Generally, the target audience varies due to the concept behind a website. Because of this, it is important that you begin developing your web site with these expectations in mind. Are you developing a free site and selling advertising? If so, how much traffic will I need before someone actually pays for advertising? Are you creating a niche webcam business where you are going to run manage the webcam talent and at the same time keeping your eyes open for fresh new talent? Or, do you plan on having a pay site and now understand that you will want more than a sign-up to the site. What you need to accomplish to be successful is to get your membership base to renew, whether on an hourly, monthly, or yearly basis. This requires you to provide fresh content within the theme of your site that will keep them coming back over and over. It is vital to provide information that fulfills the immediate needs of your site’s visitors. And, in order to get visitors to sign up and pay money, your site will need to address specific questions and put the visitor’s fears to rest. Ponder what questions may arise in your visitor’s mind and make sure they are addressed. Prioritize the questions, and make sure they are all handled with care. Providing a customer service support is invaluable and making it easy for someone to find it on your site is just as important.

WHO IS MY COMPETITION?
It is unlikely you have an idea so unique that competitors will not exist. Therefore, your business will always be facing off with many other competitors. It’s important to acknowledge that you have competitors and to know exactly what they offer. Once you face the reality of the existence of competition, you can do a better job learning from their mistakes. Join their website and use it. Learn all you can and determine why a customer would be reluctant to renew. Face this head-on and address this ultra-important issue. Stepping in the customer’s shoes with an open mind can help you take market share and continue to grow in a highly saturated adult market. What do these businesses offer and how are you going to be different? What makes them successful? Ponder those questions and investigate so you can continue to make sales.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO OFFER THAT’S UNIQUE?
Many online businesses are unable to succeed because they lack the creativity needed to separate themselves from their competition. While it is not imperative to come up with something completely original, adding a twist to a tried and true idea is always helpful to differentiate your new business from those in existence. If you cannot come up with enough ideas that will continue to separate you from competitors, don’t be ashamed to ask friends for help. Ask them to join some sites and be open-minded when they share their ideas. Don’t get defensive, Listen!. Learn as much as you can and then you can comfortably answer the question “What do I have to offer that’s unique”?

WHERE WILL I GET MY CONTENT?
Some web sites get content from their members, such as RateXpics.com. Others provide content as part of the theme of the site. There are different approaches to acquiring content for your web site. For those that lack the directing and photography experience the option of buying the rights to display images and videos on your web site is available. There is no superior choice in this decision, both producing and buying content come with advantages and disadvantages. You must take into account that by pursuing the option of producing your own content, it requires extra costs such as purchasing video equipment, editing tools, paying for actors and models (with model release forms), scripts, as well as ensuring your new content does not challenge local laws. The advantage of producing your own content may be worth the financial burden if the idea of unique and ultra-exclusive content fits into your business model. Before you go this route, explore sources for unique content and their pricing. Another choice is to purchase non-exclusive content which will most definitely save you time and lots of money. Unfortunately, such content rarely makes a web site unique. AdultChamber.com and other resource sites provide helpful listings of responsible content providers.

HOW WILL I MARKET MY BUSINESS?
If you have already devised a unique idea to differentiate your business from the rest of the market, then you are already ahead of the game. Getting your website to appear high in search engine rankings is a start, but it’s not that simple. Before forking over your hard earned cash to a web developer you will need to consider how you will be marketing your web site to an audience not yet reached. Not many webmasters comprehend the power of search engine optimization (SEO), and those that do, tend not to have the manpower needed for a successful SEO campaign. Investigate Search Engine Optimization for your new business and consider the option of paying for SEO. This aside, there are many other techniques to attract new visitors to your business. Advertising campaigns are often helpful but without smart research they can prove to be a waste of time and money. Now that you understand who your competition is, see where they choose to advertise as a start. Learn who knows about adult marketing by asking around. Creating a strong marketing plan can be very valuable to succeeding with your business, but without the necessary research you will be stuck in the mud and spinning your wheels.

The time you take to plan your adult online business is always worth it. It will save you time, money and aggravation. It will provide the foundation for potential success.

My Hyperlinks and email links stopped working in Outlook, Excel and Word. I checked everything and spent hours banging my head against the wall trying to figure out what was going on. Then it dawned on me. Yesterday I uninstalled Google Chrome during normal clean-up of my programs. I uninstalled it since it was not being used. I did not tie that together with hyperlinks not working in Outlook, and why would I.

I’ve tried just about every remedy I cound find on the net, and nothing worked. Then I discovered the solution.

1. Reinstall Google Chrome and make sure it’s your default browser;
2. Test Outlook and make sure the hyperlinks and email links work;
3. Go to START – Control Panel – Programs – Set Default Programs. Set IE-8 as your default browser;
4. Go to your desktop to delete the Chrome Icon. Do not delete the program or you will be back where you started.

Then go to RateXpics.com and look at the first 10 free pictures. You’ll have a smile on your face and all will return to normal.

I hope this helps.
